Default overheating

Hi i have a 95 integra LS coupe 5spd with 238k miles on it.. problem is that the waterpump and rad was replace last year.. the rad looks new as ****.. but i know i have a coolant leak but i spotted one area which is the upper rad hose.. which leaks a lil bit at the end of the hose.. it doesn;t even drip that much.. so there has 2 be more places..

anyways whenever i'm at a stoplight the temp gauge starts to move from halfway going towards the 3/4th mark.. as the light turns green i take off and it goes back to halfway..

whats going on..

what should i do. seriously..

Check to make sure that the fans are coming on when they are suppose to.

Or just remove it and see if you still have the problem. Sounds more like a fan since when idling no air is moving over the radiator unless the fan is working.

My parents have two saturns. Their fan motors both went out around 90-100k miles and they had the same issue you're experiencing. I had a saturn in HS (don't worry, got an Integra as soon as I could get my own car) and it's fan motor went out, and it would overheat as soon as you stop moving. I was in the process of trying to convert my family to imports when my brother went out and bought a used saturn, and ITS fan motor died, and did the same thing you were talking about.

So the answer to your question is, don't buy a saturn. But everyone here already knows that anyways.

well the rad was empty so was the res.. let car run for like 15mins and the temp gauge was a lil below the half way mark.. so yea i resolve the problem.. so now i gotta keep adding coolant... since i have a leak.. and in the next 2 days i'll be watchin where the leak is coming from..

but how do u bleed the coolant.. open the bleeder screw thats it while car is warm or what?

its been a good 2 month without addin coolant knowing that i have a leak..

I say replace all your coolent hoses, upper and lower radiator hoses, and the ones that go to your Intake manifold, new termostat, check fan switch relay...That might be why the fan is not coming on...Try to find all the leaks thats all I can say...

There is stuff that they sell at the auto parts to take care of any leaks that are coming from the radiator, if you run into that problem...

dont use the stop leak, it clogs up you radiator.. just look for leaks and do a compression test, you could have a leaking headgasket

Did you replace it or remove it? Not sure how it causes them to bust. I've had cars blow head gaskets from overheating and didn't break a hose.

ok so my 96 teg was overheating after i changed a hose. i replaced it and add new coolant. later on the month it overheated. i bleed it again and it was okay for about 2 weeks then it overheated again. so im guessing my thermostat is out or headgasket

check both upper and lower hose, if they are hot then your t-stat is functioning or it is stuck open, either way it shouldn't cause your car to over heat. Signs of a blown headgasket would include white smoke that smell sweet like coolant coming from the exhaust, or water in your oil, or oil in your coolant, or lower compression in two adjacent cylinders, and some others I can't think of right now.

well from the day that we did the thermostat installed and fixed upper hose.. we filled the overflow with half way up with coolant.. now today i notice my overflow is ALMOST dry but rad is full? i don;t get it.. new rad last yr along with waterpump, timing belt.. and also thermostat and hoses recently changed..
ALSO fans turns on quiet well..

what i notice is that the upper hose gets extremely hott while the lower hose is kinda cold.. takes the lower hose a few extra mins 2 get warm.. i'm not sure if thats normal..

i don't know where all this fluid is going but theres no leaks under the car.. check the dipstick.. oil looks black so thats a good sign of good headgasket i guess.. hmm somebody point me in the right direction thaks..
