Default honda tech peeps need your help!!!!!!!!!

i have a b16. today i was driving it and i heard a pop! and it sounded like a valve was rattling around..... well i needed to get it home so i said *&#% it and started to drive it home....well a minute or so after i started the car the noise went away and my oil light came on...(its full of oil)...could this noise just have been the oil pump???

Doesn't sound good honestly.

Don't risk it, open the hood, get under and take a look.

If you're not a mechanic, take it to a shop or run a compression/leak down yourself.

+1 to ^^^^^, sounds like it could be serious and def get the compression tests and leak down tests....notice and smoke or anything comin from the crank case...maybe foaming or excessive oil?

ha, totally saw that one coming :-P

It's vtec, not vtech - that's a phone company

IN any event, do as others said...a pop and a valve ticking noise doesn't sound good.... Keep the lookout for black smoke (oil) and keep an eye on ur temprature gauge, if there is something wrong with the oil system, u don't want to fry ur engine while taking it to the shop :-\

if you have plenty of oil, and your oil light comes on, then it could be your oil pump.

this is to anyone who could answer, but can that happen just because of high mileage or is it because the motor was beat on?

at 90k, a honda motor should be just about broken in . Mine has three times that and my oil pump gears didnt break....the previous owner proly drove it like he stole it.
