Default offsets and what will work for 17" tires

I am looking for aftermarket 17" rims for my wifes' S2K. We still have the factory 16 (205/55-16 F 225/50-16 R). I think the front are 55mm offset and the rear are 45mm, but am not sure.

I want to know what max tire size with what offset can I go with. But here's the kicker, the wheels have to be cheap. I'm talking about $200 or less each. Not counting tires duh, I'm not that stupid.

Oh and to make it more difficult, we'd like to stay staggered. So 17X7 and 17X8 or so. I've got 18"s on my BMW with 255/35-18 R and 225/40-18 F but I think that'd be too big for her car, plus I just put new rubber on and it was almost $1K. But my 18's are 18X9 and 18X8.

I'm new here and don't know what I'm doing, She usually does all the internet stuff, but she's not here now and I'm trying to figure what to do.

Any suggestion will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Thanks again!

Aren't those rims spokes, like 12 or so spokes? Boring to me.
[IMG][/IMG] What I'm looking for is something closer to this.
Hmm, I'm so new to this I don't know how to add an image, clicked copy from my folder but can't "paste" it here and the "insert image" button doesn't seem to work for me.
Anyway it's like a "mesh" wheel, BBS makes them and a whole bunch of others are similar and less expensive. But the trick is to find one that makes 2 different size 17" AND then with high offsets.
Oh, well. I'll still keep looking.

Thanks for all of your help.

Companies that make mesh-type wheels with S2000 friendly offsets are:

BBS
Volk
Work
*maybe* Racing Hart
ASA
J-Line
*maybe* HRE, Kinesis, Iforged

Thanks, the ASA FN1 is exactly like I have on my BMW, satin center, polished lip. That's a 2 piece. The AR1 is a one piece, sold by Tirerack and are 179 for front and 189 for rear. Under my $200 limit per wheel. I'll check around for other pricing, but that's close to what I want. It's her car, but I'm chosing the wheels and those are not screaming at me to buy them, so I'm on a mission. Strange I can spend hours looking at wheels, it's a wonder I get anything done at work.
