the lower section that mounts to the control arm lowers the car the other one just adjusts spring rate. if that helps at all

dude ive had skunk 2's, ebay ones, ground controls, and none of them are like the megan racing ones. i just read on my other thread "loosen the bottom most collar first.
Then tighten the top two collars against each other as tight as you can get them (hope you still have the spanner wrenches!). Tighten them so that when you turn one, the other turns with it. The entire shock body itself should turn along with the collars.
Turning clockwise will lower the car. Turning counterclockwise will raise the car. Use the lower collar (middle one of the 3) to turn counter-clockwise (to raise the car) and use the upper collar to turn clockwise (lower the car).
"
and thats what i did . thanks for WRONG advice. the COILS dont move, the whole shock collar moves. i post this to make sure i didnt fu ck up.
spoon dc4 u need to get a life other then to keep commenting on quetsiont i ask on HT. u got nothing else better to do. when u comment at least leave an advise or knowledge bout it.

My bad dude I meant the collars, no need to get pissy. It might be kinda confusing at first, cause when my friend did his Tein setup, he has a hard time moving the collars around and getting his car to a height he wanted. The lower the collars are the lower your car will be, the higher up they the higher the car will be. I'm pretty sure the smaller collar is suppose to be support for the big one. You tighten them towards each other. I'm just trying to help, so that's just my experience with coilovers.

i would give you advice if you did something other than say "ic" in reply to peoples advice, and then go and say you were going to do it anyways.... if you know so much dont post stupid threads asking idiotic questions. also you go around saying you work in a shop. if you really worked in a shop i would hope you would have a little more knowledge and/ or common sense about car related things. and also go around saying to have owned 4 cars that have been turbo and NA. it would seem to me like all your cars are "bought" not "built."

can't we all just get along?? hhaha
just to clarify with everyone about the coilovers... yes the bottom sleeve portion that mounts to the control arm is for ride height.. the top locking rings is adjustable so you can set preload.. that's done by setting your car on wheel scales and adjusting the preload so it balances out the four corners of the car.. there's more to it, but i don't feel like typing anymore..haha

You need a coilover wrench. It would be easiest if they were installed on the car so you have a mounted spot to wrench them lower. It's rather hard to just wrench them freely like you are trying to do.

the are called spanner wrenches. not coilover wrenches. and your coilovers are not unique. they lower just like omnis and many other brands. and i guess because you have having so much difficulty with this i will help.

all you have to do is loosen the part circled in red. depending on how low you want your car is how far you twist it up. then you rotate the collar, in the blue square, so that it goes up as high as you want, thus making the coil over shorter in length and making your car lower.
edit. make sure you tighten everything back up too.

are you stupid.... all you have to do is drop the lcas in the rear and take off the wishbone in front.
if you dont want to do that you can try to rotate the top portion of the coilover but its harder to turn. but it also works fine. im just making suggestions dude. and im trying to make it easy for him to understand. if you have a better way to do please let him know so he can do this.
