Default how do i get my timing bak the way it should be

me and my dad did a headgasket on my car last weekend, and when we were taking everything off, it totally slipped my mind to mark the cam gears or what not for the timing belt placement. so now it sounds like ***. is there any easy way to match everything up again? we did make sure the cams were TDC (otherwise it probably wouldnt have started) so im that far, or do i jus have to do some trial and error on adjusting the belt?

With the cams at TDC, check to make sure that the crank is also at TDC. There is a mark on the crank pulley that will line up with pointer on the timing belt cover. Also, did you check your ignition timing as well?

ignition timing is fine. i know the belt is off some teeth, it has to be, this thing sounds like total *** man, and its not loose.

Are the two cams lined up? Unfortunately, sounds like you will need to re-do the whole timing belt set up and get everything lined up.
