Noise from back brakes
hmmm im just wondering because my car passed our national car test (n.c.t.) recently with flying colours with my rear axle brake score being:
brake effort
nearside 0.79kn
offside 0.75kn
ovality
nearside 11%
offside 14%
imbalance
5%
so it's brakeing properally i'd imagine, however if ive the window down i can deffinately hear an air sound like ive already discribed, however its only at speed.
it kind of sounds like a pressure release,if you know what i mean.
so not normal then?

A couple of possibilities...
- If the rotors are rusted - like if the car has been sitting for a while, or if it hasn't been driven hard - then it could make a sound when you apply the brakes. That's normal; keep driving and the rust should wear off.
- If the rear pads are worn, they could be making noise. You can check the thickness at the top of the outboard pad without removing the wheels, just by looking closely through the spokes of the wheel.
