b16 getting 6 mpg and running bad, heres what I have done somebody help!!!
I did a b16a swap in my 90 CRX DX so I had to convert from dpfi to mpfi. After doing the swap I had noticed that it was running really rich. I have been driving the car for about 6 months after the swap now, and in that time I have done multiple things to try to fix it. It is so bad that I am getting around 12MPG. In that time I have brought it to the shop and had different mechanics take a look at it. They changed the O2 sensors, and the injectors, and the timing belt. That didnt fix the problem. I was throwing a code for knock sensor so I bought a vtec sub wiring harness and that had the knock sensor wiring and after that was installed the CEL went off. I have also done a tune up, and even put in a brand new Dizzy. I changed the resistor box, and I have a PR3 ecu and a PW0 ecu that both do the same thing when installed in the car. I changed the Map sensor.
I have checked the vacuum set up and that is good, the wiring was all done by the directions (http://tech.hybridgarage.com/)And checked multiple times. I have no vacuum leaks and the compression is 210 across.
My symptoms are about 12mpg, blowing out alot of black smoke when reving up. Uncontrollable idle, Idles high when cold (around 2500) and then real low when warm (dies if let without hitting gas), When I start out the car boggs down alot like to much fuel, When driving at a constant speed the car is real jumpy as if I am hitting and letting off the gas constatly.
Can somebody help me I need my car back. I dont have a VAFC or anything like that and I dont want something like that to just cover up the problem.

sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak..get some silicone spray and spray around your intake mani gasket and all vacuum lines with the car running to see if the idle levels out.. also check your ignition timing and spark plugs to see what they look like... are the ecu's chipped for anything?

oil...possible ur get gasket or rings are blown?
This wouldn't account for a mpg problem, but black smoke pouring out the black would lead one to believe it's a seal someplace... But that still wouldn't make it idle weird nor get less mpg :-\
Blah, bump for u ***

i think the wiring harness you got maybe bad and your injectors are on all the time, making you run rich. bring it to a shop and have them hook up noid lights to each injector and see if they fire in sequence. but if they stay on a ll the time, then something is wrong with your harness. the injectors are grounding out

Wouldn't that 'cause preignition/misfires?

Bad valves? I would just tear the engine apart and clean/inspect everything. Seriously, if it's acting up that much after everything, just take it apart and rebuild it!
Check your injectors, you might have a bad injector...Maybe cracked or something lke that around the spray pattern area...
Thanks everyone that all seems like some good stuff, I did do the vacuum leak test though and there was nothing. But I'll bring it in a shop and have someone check the injectors. My friends were behind me the other day and my car backfired, and they said it looked like the fourth of july

if it's backfiring then it's the injectors (that would be why ur running rich) - either they're leaking, or like that other guy said, the injectors can be grounded out and pumping fuel non-stop, I would change out the injectors, even if it's only temporary and see if the problem continues, if it does, then check to make sure that wiring harness is okay, it's one or the other..
But I have already had the injectors changed, and it still did the same thing. How can I get it so that they are not grounded out?
do you have a cat? my car blows out smoke to when i hit on it hard and go into boost but thats because i have no cat and mostly gas coming out

did you mess with the timing? when i put back on my turbo after emmisions i forgot to do timing and when was driving it couldnt give much gas cause felt like bogging like to much fuel or something but it was my timing i had to advance it back
man that sucks, yea i sort have same problem my mpg
stock 240's only getting me around 16 mpg and i need to put in my 450's hope it doesnt go down any more lol

EDIT: almost 95% sure its the map sensor.

Check ur TPS sensor, as i heard that is controls the amt. of fuel goin into ur engine.
Is your throttle adjusted properly?, and your ignition timing, set too retarted or advanced????

oOo, my bad but the distributor timing is different than ur tdc marks on ur crank and cam gears. My bad again if u already know. Just sayin cuz my car was running the same way before. My camgears were off like 1 or 2 teeth and my car bogged bad and had black residue on my back bumper, bad gas mileage and pulled weaker than a single cam. i had my timing belt changed and my crank and cams lined up at tdc, then had my distributor set by moving it back and fourth (retard or advanced) while flashing the light to get it within range on the crank. Then i had my tps adjusted and now my car runs very well but boggs just a tiny bit. Still trying to to figure that out but yea, just what i went through so far. For some reason, my cyl 4 spark plug keeps getting carbon fouled, does any of urs? I think it could be my spark plug wires because i changed my cap, rotor and plugs but i think my wire for that cylinder is shot causing it not to burn the gas but other that that, may be i have a leaking injector. I know you have new injectors but did they replace the o rings when they replaced ur injectors?
for your idle, maybe its ur idle air control valve? mine was dirty as hell when i took mine out, had alot of sludge on it.
