Well ya I know this roof adds weight and its just for looks......but for some reason it bothers me to have a carbon hood and wing and no roof, so I purchased this from Composite Fab for a reasonable price. It is very good quality! Some of THE BEST cf work I have seen or owned to date.....No waves present on the whole piece and the clear coat is top notch.

The radiator I picked up due to me having a non oem radiator after an accident and I noticed at the last event I went to the needle creeping to one bar above the half mark when I was in the slipstream of an American Iron Mustang. So those are my reasons for this huge thing

Enjoy the pics...I'll try and get the roof skin on tomorrow....I hope all goes well!
PS. You all might remember my horse Barney.....he's been overheating lately....so we figured we'd try the C&R out to see if it would cool him down a notch or two

I guess the Evolution MR will have to be my late b-day present WOOHOO!

Oh by the way the roof skin is 1x1 spoon weave....to match the wing
to Composite Fab for turning out a real vacuum infused product rather than these cheap wavy layovers that all these other companies are doing.

Notice I said "roof skin" meaning it goes over the top and clips under the plastic gutters....after its installed you can't tell it's a skin.
Maybe I was confusing in my wording earlier.....when I said this is not an overlay....I meant that when they produced this, they used a vacuum infused mold....instead of laying the carbon over someones roof mold to make the product.
The infused mold allows for a perfect fit, no waves, and its lighter because all of the excess resin has been sucked out.

Where did you pick up the C&R rad? I heard they were out of business and Visteon(sp?) bought them out.
The roof cap looks killer. JDMDan(I think) runs that piece and it looks tight on his car.

Doh! today I'm moving all my crap back from my apartment at school....maybe if I have time tonight.
On a side note Composite Fab sent a nice carbide cutting wheel to tackle the trimming of the carbon roof....it looks like it can remove some fingers!! I am going to find some thick welding gloves so I dont end up losing a digit
And the C&R radiator I was lucky enough to come across a brand new one in the classifieds from seek167. He was a great person to do business with and I traded my front 5-lug for it....he couldnt fit the K series with this radiator so I happily traded him so that we both could get usable parts

I'm just curious how much weight it will actually save? Roof skins aren't terribly heavy.
But it would sure look pretty bling to see CF from nose to tail. Now you need a CF trunk and CF fenders. Do they make CF door skins? Just go all out and CF everything

It doesnt replace the roof, it goes on top of the existing roof.

IMO, im sure its possible to cut off hte stock roof and replace it with a better/well designed CF roof like the ones on the new m6. But the cf roof must have structural braces to keeps its integrity, where it would not crumble or flex under stress.
By looking at the roof from the OP. its more for cosmetic purpose, rather than anything functional. to each their own, i wouldnt put that on my car though. but it would def. look hot on your car

Curious how much the roof skin costs? Also do you know if it's the real deal and not dyed fiberglass?
The reason I say this, my roommate and I make things out of fiberglass and carbon fiber all the time. Since Airbus announced the developement of some special plane they are producing, one plane consumed 70% of the annual supply of carbon fiber made on the planet.
For the cheapest OZ carbon fiber made, the price is just short of $100.00 a yard. This is before catalyst and resin...which have gone up also.
Pending on how many layers the glass is on that skin, is going to greatly determine the price of that part. If it cost you less than say...a couple hundred bucks, I would think that they used fiberglass and black dye (which looks EXACTLY the same as carbon fiber).
