you mean disable ?

Dont chip an ECU, get a tuneable piggy back system at the very least. eg: Hondata, Chrome, Uberdata etc.

If you are using a p28 or p72 ECU with Hondata, you can disable the knock sensor. It wont hurt anything... Not really possible on a stock ecu with the super duper special spoon mugen ultra high performance racing chip.

p28 doesnt read for knock. I havent had one for 2 years and personally i dont care for knock sensors. They are brittle and expensive.

Is it true that the knock sensor is ineffective at preventing detonation after 4,000 RPMs or so?

no, on the contrary, they prevent knock under 4000 rpm, and shut down over that rpm because they would read too much off of the engine noise

LOL you misread... you just repeated exactly what I asked. But anyways, thanks for answering the question... now I don't feel bad about going with the P28 ECU over the P72.
