1. when people talk about exhaust systems, it is usually stated that for naturally aspirated civics a 2.25"-2.5" tip is the way to go. my question is: are they really referring to the outlet? aren't the outlet and the tip two different things? so technically, you could have a 2.25" outlet with a 4" tip. is this true? i'm asking this because i want to get another exhaust that would be less loud. i just bought my civic and i have what seems to be a four inch tip and it is pretty loud. i dont know, anyone have any suggestions?

2. and what's a b-pipe? pictures would help if possible.

to answer your questions.

When the people say tip...that is the tip on the end of the muffler sticking out the back of the car.

what they should mean, is 2.25"-2.50" diamater exhaust should be run from the header all the way out to the muffler.

Yes you can have a 2.5" muffler inlet/outlet with a 4"tip

if you want to have a quieter ride, a smaller diamater pipe, like 1.75" with a longer resonator would help quiet it down.
A muffler tip won't really increase sound on a car.


a b-pipe is basically the mid-section of the exhaust
