cigarette lighter power?
my friend gave me his old radar detector and I went to plug it in and it wont power on so I did it in his car and it worked. So I pulled the dash piece off and then used a multi meter on the wires going to the cig lighter and there is nothing. Its not the fuse since my radio is still working. Any idea what this could be? I don’t think it’s the lighter its self since the power wires had no power. Where can I start looking? I need this to work soon I am going out of town for the 4th of July and I would like to use it.
check the wires behind it. my does the same, i actually have to wiggle the radar wire alittle so my radar can work. just been lazy to fix though. hope this helps.
i guess what i am saying is, sometimes the cig lighter it's self is actually loose. that's how mine is. maybe if you replace it you'll have better fortune. i mean if you checked all the wires and they're good then thats the only thing i can think of.
like i said thats how mine is.
like i said thats how mine is.
Do you have any power to the wires that hook up to the lighter if not work backward. if you do than resolder the connection. or you could cut the connector for the cig lighter off and hook the wire strait to the batter or fuse box or whereever you want. thats what i did and its cool not to have the wire dangling.
