Default Si Cluster and Dealer Question

Ok i have a 00 civic. ex.

Id like to purchase a Si gauge cluster, but id like to make things 100% legit.
could i purchase the cluster and have the dealer roll back the miles on the Si cluster to what is rightfully on my ex cluster and install it and give me some paperwork stating this?

Im a notary public, so could i also do this myself and notarize the mileage info. you do this when you buy a car anyways.

Let me know which way is best/possible.

I don't see why you couldn't just roll them back yourself instead of taking them to the dealer and wasting hella money...

As far as the notary thing.. we don't do that here in California. But it depends on how you feel... I'm selling an si cluster, si lip (real oem) and some red/clear si tailights. My si was hit from the side so I have a few things laying around...

Anyways, if you want those three things let me know. I'd rather sell them as a bundle.

I thought you can unbolt the odometer part and just switch them?

You can't with the Si cluster. The speedo range of the Si cluster is 140 mph, and the EX at 120 mph. So if you swap the odometer and the gauge face, the speedo will be inaccurate after 80 mph because the tick marks are different after 80 mph. Trust me, I've done it to an EX odometer.

I don't think anyone really has the "legal right" to turn back the mileage on an odometer....private owner or dealer. My only suggestion is to leave it alone...or get one with a lower mileage. Trust me...DMV people will take all day to clear up a problem that can be addressed/resolved in 2 minutes.
