Well.. i ordered my tunertoy rods, and got a little white box, very poorly wrapped rods, and some white stickers.

These are crap.
They use lower quality rod bolts.
The top end of the rods don't fit my pistons, there off.
they are not closed to being balanced.

These are not eagle rods, tunertoys buys these from a chinese company that bought the forge and then sent the blanks off and saved the money from the end machine work.

Just buy the eagles and save yourself the hassle.

I'm seriously concerned wy people nickel and dime a good set of rods...
aren't those like 225-250 bucks? so for about 50-75 more dollars you can get a set of eagles which have been tried and true?

 

i really didn't think it would be a issue, but just looking at my new eagles and the tunertoy ones its night and day.

You live and you learn, they say in a faq on the page somewhere you might need to mil the rod ends, they come with the cheaper arp bolts, etc.. shrug..

I also learned from that.... if I would have done my setup right the first time I would have saved a good 15 000$can.

But anyway I dont regret anything.

 

mmhmm, first stage to understanding anything is to find out what you don't understand first.

The only decent rod available for under $600 is an Eagle. Buy an Eagle if you are on a budget and under 500whp or step up to the plate for an American made rod.
Sorry you had to learn the hard way but thanks for sharing your experience.

 

i agree with earl eagles are THE BEST priced GOOD rods, for 99% of peoples builds (other 1% is for those on crack and need 700whp )

 

Those are the worth ways to learn a lesson, I have learned many that way and bought twice.

But once you make the mistake, you rarely do again.

Haha, i don't think that's exactly what earl was saying.

 

I too also fell for the attractive price of the tunertoys rods. When i recieved them they arrived in a soggy white box with a little bubble wrap in betweent he rods. They were banged up on eachother during shipping. No paper work whatsoever. The rod bolts were the cheapest junk ARP makes, Im not even sure if they were ARP's.

I didnt think anything of it so they sat in my room for 2 weeks until I got my pistons. The wrist pin didnt even go in, I used my digi Mic and each rod had a different pin bore and big end bore size. I placed them on my digi scale and each rod was off by about 20-25g each! I couldnt believe why they would even make these. I emailed tunertoys and I returned the rods for a refund.

I asked them why they sold these and the girl was very nice but she ddin't know anything about them. It makes me skeptical about buying thier injectors.

 

Tuner Toys makes a good oil takeoff fitting. That's about it.

I will second that.... It has been good to me.

 

I just put a set in a LS/Vtec build and they were great.The packaging could have been better for sure but i had no issues with them at all.They were all within a gram or two of each other out of the box as per the machinist that did my machining.He was actually really impressed with the rods and wanted to know where they came from.You should maybe talk to TunerToys as they are always quick to resolve any issues with there product.They had issues with there injectors and refunded every body even months/years later.
