Default Transmission slippage

Hey, my EX is giving problems with the tranny,

when accelerating, sometimes the RPMs jump up a little then the car shifts. I'm thinking this is transmssion slipping? i got some of the fluid to fix slips and all it was called TransX

The guy before me was beating this car up so I'm wondering if i should be worried about this?

try changing the fluid and try the stuff you bought, if that doesnt fix it your tranny is probably on its way out but I'm betting you could probably drive it like that for a long time if you cant afford to have the tranny replaced. Trust me, I drove a celica w/ an auto that was slipping from 2nd to 3rd for over 3 years and the slipping trans never kept me from getting from point a to point b. You'll get used to it...right when you know its about to slip just let off the gas and it will shift, then the press the gas again.

I just wanted to see if this is like a warning.

i dont know if transmissions just go like that or its a gradual thing, the engine blew in this and it ran fine up until it stopped working

it depends on the specific symptom...sometimes the problems gradually get worse but sometimes they just stay the same. Like the problem I had, I used to beat the crap out of it even after I first noticed the problem all the way till the time I got rid of it and the problem never got worse. If you're having a problem with it slipping when trying to shift from park to Drive and it doesnt wanna go when you press the gas, then I'd try to be VERY careful with it because that kind of symptom can easily get worse at a fast rate and have you left with a disabled car.

im pretty sure its 3rd to fourth, cuz it usually happens when im getting on the parkway. it would also make sense cuz the racer kid before me prob dropped it back down to 3rd and put it back in fourth to go faster

this is usually an indication that the clutch pack is about to die. Does it do it under partial throttle or full throttle?

clutch pack may be the correct term because when I had the problem with my old celica the trans shop told me it was a series of worn paper-thin clutches that was causing the problem, like I was saying before, I drove it like that for OVER 3 years and and even beat on it alot!

That car NEVER kept me from getting from point A to point B!

edit: Granted I had to get used to it in order to learn how to drive it, didnt take long though.
