Recomendation On Exhaust Size
I am getting an exhaust custom done next week, but I am not completely sure what diameter piping I want. Some people say 2.25, some people say 2.5. I have the poopy d16y7 in the car now, with your basic bolt ons. I'm just wondering what size would be the best. I did search but I couldn't come up with what I am looking for. Thanks for any help.

If you're not planning on swapping anytime soon, 2.25"

Don't get an exhaust at all if you have a D16Y7 that's naturally aspirated. If you feel the need to do so anyway, get an Si or GSR muffler and call it a day. No need to spend $300+ on something that's going to make your obnoxious, slow-as-**** car louder and more stereotypical.

i know its a Y7 i got one of those too
hell even 2 1/4 is maybe to big, and you will loose to any engine if the piping is too large due to backpressure loss

yea, that's why i raise the question. i don't have a kajillion dollars to throw around on an engine and what not. hopefully ill get a y8 shortly, but i want an exhaust, but i don't want to expletive myself over with it. so 2.25 is the good one?

yes
yes
2.25" is good, i would even go 2" all the way so you wont lose much downlow seeing as though these motors dont have any low end at all. 2.25" if you want to increase power top end though.

What the expletive did you just say?
Nevermind, don't repeat it.
The general rule of thumb was no bigger than 2 1/2" for NA, 2 or 2.25 will be fine on a stock D16.
If you have a "fat turbo" you don't want to limit yourself to 2 1/2" piping. Most new turbo setups are using 3", and some BIG number guys are running a 4". In turbo you want as little resistance to airflow as possible. After the turbo you want no restriction whatsoever.
