91 accord suspension setup
I have a stock white 91 lx accord and wanted to upgrade the suspension first. I have been looking at shocks and springs only, not coilovers. what would be the best setup for having a nice handling car on the street? I plan to get 17" w/205,50s.
i have a pretty much stock 92 accord ex, and kept the stock struts/shocks and went with H&R springs for a 1.75" drop up front and a 1.5" in the rear. overall it handles awesome, no rocking when i shift and brake. takes the turns nice and stiff. the only thing i wish i had right now are some sway bars!
The H&Rs aren't that low or stiff, so stock shocks should be okay. If you're on your original shocks though, they must be real old and due for replacement anyways.

I have a 93 Accord DX coupe which is basically the bottom of the line for that year, but you have to first understand the technology of shocks b4 you decide to invest. Stock Shocks use oil which don't have particularly good viscosity under high performance. Performance creates heat and think about what happens to oil when you heat it in a pan...it gets really thin. In your shocks that would cause a loss of pressure and therefore poor performance. Performance shocks on the otherhand are usually gas pressurized and don't change viscosity too much under high performance so take that into consideration.
I have Tokcio Illumina gas pressurized shocks which are pretty much the top of the line, but KYB makes a great set of shcks too (in my opinion). The remainder of my suspension is resting on Eibach components (sportline springs, lower tie bar with urethane bushings instead of rubber, and upper strutbar). In total I paid about $1,100 for the setup which included a progress camber kit.

I havent heard many good things about Tokico. I'd stay away. Try these: Springs: H&R, Eibach, Neuspeed
Shocks: KYB AGX, Koni Yellow, Bilstien
