what is the highest but safest compression rating?
im building a c5 for all motor, luckily in va we still have 93 octane. so what is the highest i could bump my compression to but still be ok on pump gas? thanks in advance
well there are many different ideas about what is safest. Personally I feel kinda nervous about anything more than 11.5:1. But many people are running 12:1,12.5:1 and up. YOu have to retard timing and definitely run 93 octane.
12:1 is good. Right on the edge. Wait, what am I saying? Yeah uhhh, stock compression is your best bet. Can't beat it.
Damn you jdmeg6. Bastards like you make my class harder and make me have to put more money into my setup...seriously starting to consider turbo now...

lol, sorry hybridreams, but hey dont worry the eg is sold and this motors going in an ek so i wont be that fast. the c5 compression is 11.1:1 and my high compression valves are going to put it at 11.6:1 according to skunk2. so i was wondering if i should bump it up a little more to 12.1 or just stay at 11.6? being all motor the higher the better but this is also my daily driver for now atleast, so i dont want to get unreliable.

I think 11.6 will be plenty good for you. TODA's ITR had 11.7:1 compression with Toda B cams and made 208whp at 8800rpm just so you have a little reference.
