Default What hole saw do you guy's use to cut collectors?

I have been using rigid hole saws to cut my collectors so far, and it's getting really expensive. Right now I go through two saws just to cut one wastegate hole. When these things are $10 a peice, it adds up. What are you guys using, and what do you reccomend?

TIA,
Bryson

Starrett hole saws work well for me. I also use a cutting grease called Jockish, it stinks and makes a mess but it makes the saws last alot longer and cut faster.

I use this stuff called rapid tap and go real slow. The key to stainless cutting is slow and use some kid of cutting fluid.

Yeah just some generic stuff I bought from home deopt.

Awsome. I'll definetly pick up a couple of these. Their band saw blades have worked wonders for me, I have no doubt they will last longer.

Yeah, I have my drill press on the slowest setting. But even when it takes almost an hour to drill the hole as I'm putting very little pressure on the press, the saw still gets nuked. This is by far my most hated part of manifold building...

How on earth are you using a holesaw for a collector?

I use a bandsaw and cannot imagine a holesaw!

wrong, the key to cutting stainless is using the right type of cutter and cutting fluid. We cut stainless at work with the blade running around 250 IPM. Now don't get me wrong going slow does help but having the right cutter is most important. Get a hole saw with carbide tips like so http://www.barrettdiamond.com/carbide/hs.htm

Yeah they are a little pricey but they will last 20 times longer then regular HSS hole saws

When i made some manifolds I used a cnc mill to mill the hole, seems simpler than a hole but costs alot more to get started

MSC ENCO McMaster. Get a thicker style oil. I perfer the thicker stuff because it doesn't run off the part as quick and seems to lubricate better

i used to use lenox bi-metal hole saws and a water and hand soap mixture as a coolant, the blades lasts longer than not using any coolant at all, nowadays i use a plasma cutter and a die grinder, its a lot faster.....

Yeah, I'm sure a plasma cutter works great. I don't know how good the accuracy would be, but it would sure as hell be faster.

i used plasma, and i abandoned it for a rigid holesaw, if you knew how to use the ******, youd know itll last at least 3 wg holes.

and thats without any kind of lubrication.
