I recently purchased a Tenari catback on eBay. I just finished installing it and boy is it loud and just plain awful sounding.
I am thinking about doing what I shoulda done the first time around and buy a decent muffler and some wider pipes.
The catback came with 2.5'' pipes which seems a little large for my 1.5L. I was thinking about just getting a Magnaflow muffler. Are these any good. I mean I assume, but I want to know if they're good for what I want.
I don't really care for more power. I really just want something that sounds throaty. Not just loud. They make so many different kinds... Is there a difference in sound between an oval muffler and a round one? Is one louder than another??
What do tips do? Say I get a muffler with 2.25'' outlet and put a tip on with a 3'' diameter, will it sound more like a fart cannon or is just presentation??
I'm trying to avoid the ricer sound/look at all costs.

I guess I picked ones that are oval shaped. I realize some of these I would have to get new pipes too. I don't really care. I just wanna do it right this time.
Any help will be appreciated.

btw, I have a 95 del Sol S.
D15B7 with an AEM short ram.

Im just looking for some noise, not a whole lot. Just to match the noise level from the intake.

Your 1.5 IMO isn't going to sound throaty.
With a magnaflow muffler it will prolly be a fart can.

Just my .02 can anyone else elaborate.

 

yea i agree, your best bet would either be A. Dual cam swap (b16, ls, GS-R) or i would purchase the Apex N1 exhaust.
