Default Finalizing the details of my swap.. someone take a look and make sure its ok thanks

ok i have the 96 accord lx and its auto. i cant go manual because of a pinch nerve in my leg. So i am keeping it auto. I ve already looked into a LevelTen build up kit for the tranny. I am going to keep mine. I am about to make a payment on it but want to make sure before i write my check..it has 30105 miles on it. Its a 1998, h22a4 i get: motor, distrubtor, intake, COMPLETE harness uncut, front motor mounts.. I can pick up a V-AFVC and do alittle wiring for the vtec, ill have to find an auto ecu and install it.. right?? no other parts.. and the 98 will fit.. right
thanks

That's an OBD II motor, and your '96 is probably OBD II as well. I'm not sure how the H22A4 OBD II hybrid conversions go, 'cause there's the "immobilizer" on that ECU. I converted to OBD I, which was pretty expensive. The only non-OBD II H22A automatic ECU you can get is JDM. I think BigJames would be the authority on this subject.

The gearing of yer Accord auto will be too tall, so a H23 would be a better choice. The easiest way to use a 97+ motor is a 96 ECU.

If it's not to late look for a 96+ JDM H22 auto or a 92-95, but you'll need to convert to OBDI.

So will i just need to pick up a 96 H22 Auto ECU and i ll be ok.. why not the 98 auto ecu.. if thats the engine i am useing.. Oh to the other guy.. yeah mine is OBD2 and so is this engine.

IF i still cant then i can use a GTR or another ECU that is auto and vtec right?

the 97+ have the immobilizer, so many people use the 96. I forgot and now remember that OBDII cars have the tranny controller with the ECU. Mine is separate cause I'm OBDI.

I guess get a 97+SS ECU and see if they can get around it.

Yes, you'll need a '96 JDM H22 auto ECU, since the '96 is OBD II and has the tranny controler built into the main ECU. Not to put a damper on things, but these ECU's are pretty rare. The other option you have is to convert to OBD I.

BigJames here knows a ton on the subject, and there is also a guy named Wadzii that can help you out. He used to have a '96 hybrid auto that he converted to OBD I. He'll tell you the conversion was a pain in the ***, but he can also tell you how it's done and what problems you might encounter. He's a member here, but you're more likely to find him on http://www.hondasociety.com/board in the Accord hybrid forum. Good luck

u are in luck!!...my 97 accord uses the 99 lude ecu!! in that sense, its possible, the only prob is I dont exactly know how! I had mine sent to the US, they just had to reprogram it and take out the factory immobilizer!..only a guess!!
