yep 96-98 I was trying to put a 99-00 cluster in it and do the same kind thing but gave up since I need to do some more altering but yeah turned out pretty good I think

 

looks sweet..my friend did that to his 94 hatch, but a little bit more extensive

pretty neat, did you have to extend wires for it?

 

nope thought I might have to but I just popped out some of the little clips that held the harness in place. there was plenty of wire, the cable for the climate control was the worst part had to disconnect them to re rout them but I just don't work good with small plastic things I tend to break that kind of stuff. lucky for me this time I didn't
