Default DIY manifold

Well i'll be taking a welding class at my college and it requires me to do a couple of projects so i thought building a manifold would be a good idea. I know I could get some merge collectors off the for sale forum, but I was wondering what about the runners? whats the best thickness to get, size of ID, OD, type of material, how long the runners should be what angles etc. What would be easiet to make (top mount, side mount, log style? Is there a website, where I can buy all of the necessary piping already cut to where i can just tack it and weld it together or what? Sorry for all the questions. But if anyone could provide some information about it let me know. Thanks.

ok first search and then look at the top of this forum at the materials and supplys thread. theres good info on things like taht there, as for thicknesses and types of material look at what other companys are using, like full-race, neukin, peakboost, T1, and others. then youll start tog et an idea of waht you need.
