It's an d16a6 with tiny tiny bit more comp and little hotter cam.

That is all it is.

So as far as parts etc look up A6s.

sohc zc is a good motor. well worth the money and everything that bolts on a a6 bolts on to it. has a more aggresive cam then the a6, dosent have vtec but you could get the zc in vtec but its in the earlier models and you'll have to get a p28 ecu for the vtec. you could get good info at zcr.com

So its cheap its junk?

the a6 is a proven platform, great for many racing clases where B or vtec swaps are not allowed.

before b -series became popular in crx's the a6 was king. dont say its junk homie just cause your doing what everbody else is doing.an a6 is way more challenging to build than a boring b-series. d-series for life best engine ive ever own compared to my gay *** b16 that i blew up 2 years ago.

I'm running a SOHC ZC. I have an oil soaked clutch (slipping in higher RPM/launching/shifting), worn out engine bushings (I can move my engine 2 inches with my hands) on worn winter tires (pics to proove) and I ran a 15.92 on the 1/4 mile, full civic HB. I even beat an H22 accord on that run the whole 1/4 mile. His vtec could not catch up to the ZC, he finished with a 15.95 . I got the slip to proove it.

These motors are potential, and they do handle boost good if you tune/proper fuel is given. A 1000-1200$ setup can give you close to 200whp.

SOHC ZCs are available in both non-VTEC and VTEC versions - VTEC version is basically the same as a D16Z6

Did I mention I picked mine up with an Si tranny, shift linkage with short shifter. Engine mounts, starter and alternator for 100$ (20$ delivery charge) from 2point2. This thing pulls harder then a 2000 Si (owned one at the track), or Ex for you yanks.

I love my zc sohc! great gas mileage, decent power for a stock honda notec, and i stay right on the *** of my buddy who has a B16 swap. hes only .8 faster than me in the 1/4.

there is good info at d-series.org also.

Too bad its not in a class, ZC i mean. thats y i called it junk, you cant run it in scca or in H4. Dont get me wrong Im not dissin the single scams, a built motor is a built motor and a single cam does alright in a CRX. anyhow, to the original poster..if you have to get the ZC but try to find a true A6 so ull be allowed to be classfied in H4.

I run the Si header...it's killing the power for sure, but it doesn't matter, I got a VX manifold so...you know .

ZC squad #420 ftw Its ok, still no torque, 1st and

2nd are ultra slow even if you wind it out to 6. I hate raping on em though, kills gas

mileage. Once you hit third, it starts to pick up by the time you hit 6k and go into 4th

your usually moving pretty good. As for the price aspect, well you cant beat that part

either. If you want it to be super peppy though forced induction of some sort is a must,

its so slow off the line ive come to the conclusion something has to be done.

I requested from HMO that I be sent a complete mani. They came through.

BTW: My complete ZC Mani is for sale if anyone wants it!
