gas mileage

Default gas mileage

I am new to this so I am gonna ask something and I don't know if its a dumb one but if I were to get a civic ex 06 which one would get the best gas mileage an auto or a stick shift?????

Will depend on how you drive - but Honda predicts approx. 1-2 mpg more for the auto compared to the stick. That gap would widen the more aggresive you are.

That's interesting...I've always thought sticks got better gas mileage. Like you said 1-2 gal difference.

same here but i think the automatic has longer gears possibly? and the torque converter helps spread the power throughout the band also so they don't feel so long when you're on it.

yeah i pretty sure i wouldnt be pushing it at all.. i just want it to go to work and school and save the most gas as possible

The auto has longer gearing, but less potential to get good mileage, I know someone with a new civic getting 50+ mpg, stick shift.

It's all about how you drive, for example, the prius auto cvt is rated much higher than stick, but when driving for better fuel economy the stick shift is much preferable.
