.....slow meaning what? if you wanted a decked out car you should have bought one thats already suped up. if you honestly just bought it to beat him you are an idiot
Shouldve bought a lancer evo or the cheapass but supped up mustang(and God please not the V6 people still dont get V6 mustangs are crap). U'll never find mods right away for new cars and what others have said about the few mods available, they will increase your hp by 2 or 5...or u couldve bought a new STi as well and put some more juice to it?

Your car could conceivably beat an STi...First, you'll need 40-foot ryder truck, a car dolly, and a large rocket booster. Check outside NASA's office next time they have a garage sale; the JATO units the air force sells just won't do. Your car's finish may not survive being towed behind a rocket-propelled moving van, but you will probably beat the STi in a straight-line race.
Oh, and get a drag chute of some sort as well. You might need it eventually.

You'll never beat me! jk lol. You have to wait 1st. The car hasn't even been out for a year yet unless you bought it in 2005. Gotta wait for aftermarket manufacturers to come up with better parts for you car. Turbo, Super Chargers, etc should be available after like two years depending on the popularity of the car. Intake and exhaust are available on ebay now. You can buy any brand you want and sometimes its you get what you pay for.
Also in the near future there will be motor swaps for your car, people have already began messing with swaps across the US. I would think you would want to swap in the SI motor or a Type-S motor from an RSX. Then you definately have all the aftermarket parts you'll need because they're out on the motor already. (turbo etc again). After that with a ridiculous amount of money invested you could probably beat your friend.
But for now why don't you just keep the car as a DD. The interior sure is pretty decent and a 1.8 in it does give it a little pep. The civic was built as an economy car. The older civics were too but they were the perfect platform for motor swaps and the engine bay had lots of room for tuners.
If you want to beat the STI for a cheap amount of money. Buy a 92-95 civic. Perform an h22 motor swap on it. They run 12's with slicks at the track and a very experienced driver. You'll eat him if you got traction. You could also turbo or nitruous that and he very surely won't take you 65mph and up unless he has performance upgrades or turned up his boost to a considerable amount. If you've seen nitruous on an STI, it leaves a blue fireball out of the exhaust.

the new v6 mustangs are not all that bad...215 HP and less the 20k... with a 5spd thats not exactly crap...its not the quickest in the world but it'll make alot of cars on this site look bad
but yeah to the OP...beating the STi with your car isnt going to happen anytime soon... without a huge amount of work anyways... maybe a swap is in line? but who wants to do that to a brand new car...

and did u actually take a look at the inside and/or to testdrive it? it does bad on curves i was disappointed AND the interior is so cheap it mightve costed them about 100bux for everything

yes infact I have driven it... I have driven many mustangs.... I've driven an auto convert (rent a car) I've driven the base v-6 and i've driven the v-6 with GT suspension and a couple of bolt ones...It in no way compares to the GT but it is more then comparable to any stock fox body or SN-95 GT for that matter
handling wise it was ok...wasnt going to win any autox but it wasnt near as bad as you are making it out to be...yes the absolute base models interior has a very cheap feel...but so most sub 20k cars out there...
3 yr warranty? can you prove that?

you said your self you couldnt afford the more expensive EX and Si... you cant half *** a turbo setup espically the one your talking about to beat a ~300hp AWD STI. Your going to easily have to put in another 5-8 grand to get it to even appear like a fair race.
And when you do that your reliablity goes to ****.
Sad to say but its the truth.

No doubt. Let it be known that the STi is doing all that with the comfort of a/c, factory warranty, fully equipped interior, etc etc etc. For any Civic of any generation to even touch a "bone stock" STi, we're already talking stripping out interiors, pulling out a/c systems, voiding factory warranties, and yes, many many more grands worth of investment, as well as time, and a knowledgeable technician/tuner. You can't half-*** it like he said.
