Default Hondabond, Ultra Flange II??

Went to the honda store today, asked for some honda bond, i was told there are 3 kinds. i told him i was sealing my transmission, so he gave me the red bottle, the part # is not the same as the manual(which i didnt bring with me like an idiot).

it says it's high temp 625degrees. "exceptional oil resistance" low odor/non-corrosive. outstanding coolant resisitance. safe for 02 sensors.

part number is 08718-0009, is this a suitable alternative? or do i need to return it?

Im not 100% sure without checking, but chances are that what you got is for oil pan gaskets. It will work on your tranny fine however.

If you want to save a few bucks, Permatex (the makers of that AWFUL silicon gasket maker) has a fairly new rubber sealant out. Its basically imitation hondabond. Has the same consistency and oil resistance as the real stuff. Lot cheaper too.

The transmission oil doesn't get anywhere near that, and neither does engine oil. If you're running 400*F oil temps, you're going to have more serious problems.
