Broken axle stuck in tranny (pics attached)
I broke my passenger side axle at the track yesterday. It is an aftermarket axle (therefore is very very difficult to drill). I have a Quaife lsd so my main attempts have been trying to hammer it out from the drivers side. I think the problem is the snap ring on the inside preventing it from coming out.
Please offer any advice you can.

keep trying to hammer the thing with a punch from the other side......try to use long 1/2" socket extensions from the drivers side wheel well and swing at that.
im willing to bet the splines are twisted/bent allong with the snap ring that is holding it in which will make it hard to get out.
or your gonna have to pull that tranny apart and change that diff.....

I sprayed wd40 on both sides, and beat the living **** out a rod that I slid into the hole. It will not move at all. If i drill a hole in it could that be any help? How can the c clip be dislodged?
well if ur gonna drill a hole drill a big enough hole to weaken the center of the axle. at the same time weakening the center of the ring as well. then ur gonna try and brake what ever is left os the axle after being driled with a crowbar or sumting.

If you can disassemble the Quaife like you can an OEM diff, then pull the diff out and take it apart.
I broke an axle off in my OEM D16Y7 diff and had to do that.

Are you sure it's the axle your hitting from the drivers side? And not part of the lsd? Checking out my obx there isn't anyway to get through.

I tried drilling it (which failed). So I ended up pulling the tranny and diff out of the car....but i still can't get it out. Should I use a press and press an object through the small hole (shown in red)?

thats what i was thinking.
you can drill it out, tap some threads into it, and then put a bolt into, then get a puller, like for truck wheel bearings, and try to pull it out like that. Or maybe take it to a machine shop that has a 10,000 pound press and have to try to push it out.

probably will end up being the safest way out.
