Default Confused about Y8 timing gear onto B1.

I was talking to someone about this and he said the B1 timing gear was quite a bit smaller than the Y8 one, but i was told here to use it to correct the timing being off 4 degrees. Soooo, if the B1 gear onto the Y8 head is smaller, wouldn't this cause the ratio to be different than it should be (the cam spinning faster than the engine)...? Just a thought i had before i fired my engine up.
