serious transmission inquiry
i just went to a slavage yard and got a trans for my 88 crx. i found a 91 civic hatch with a d15b2, the transmission reads SL3... the first 5 on the vin was 2HGED and when i looked inside it and the shifter was a 4 speed!!!. what is this, dont know the model of car it didnt say, but what is SL3 and a 4 speed?, can someone tell me about this trans , is it good for racing...ratios or somethin please...
4 Speed Transmission = The Sux
In all reality though, even the five speed DX transmission would be better suited for moving around town, and the Si transmission is your best bet.
And before anyone pipes in with "gear ratios being different" the only differences in the 5 speeds that matter (Excluding the HF all together from this conversation) are the F.D ratios of 3.88 (DX) / 4.08 (Civic EX) / 4.25 (CRX / Civic Si)

Anyway, the 4 speed should be mated to a d15b1, not a b2, in the STD, but who knows, could be a swap?</TD></TR></TABLE>
We just found another one of those 2.95 final drive trannies in our stock! LOL!!
