Default Timing belt job question

Ok, i'm finally going to change my timing belt, but before I begin, would you guys tell me what random pains I might run into along the way. Like annoying bolts or parts that i'm going to probably be fighting with? I just want a heads up so I know what to expect. Also, are there any special tools or extensions to tools, I will need to compelete the job. I'm a starving college student and just picked up my very own, bright, and shiny service manual and I cant wait to get started on doing the work myself. So, any advice you guys can give me too would be ki||er. Thanks!

yah thanks i've read most of those...spent about 2 and half hours at work searching through, but thanks I was hoping to get a central thread for this instead of scattered through out 5 or 6 threads, some archived. But anyway, the engine i have is D16Y8. So, bring on the info everyone!!

and oh yah, i've already looked at that thread like 50 times, and that is a del sol, not a civic ex, i would assume probs to be different because of the two diff body types.

the hardest bolt you wll give you problems is the crank pulley bolt other than that you'll be ok

The one thing that all Honda's and Acura's do share is that stubborn *** crank pulley bolt. So do some searching for that - archived or not, the info is going to be the same.

If you've got a Helms, you should be good to go. Having a second set of hands helps immensly. Do you have a timing light to check the timing before/after install? Now is also a good time to do valve lash since you have to take off the valve cover?

thanks guys for the info! I don't have a timing gun, i've read that they are relatively cheap so I will be picking up one of those too. I was also going to adjust the valves because of another problem i have (hoping it will fix it). The manual I got is a Helms so i've also got that covered.
