I thought the Tanabe was Uber-loud.

haha my friend had the tanabe in his coupe, that thing was unbearable, and it was some kind of "force inducted" form or whatever... I can't imagine that thing with no cat... It has a really sweet high pitched sound at high rpms, but very droney and abnoxious at low rpms...

If you are into loud exhausts, you'll probably like this one but it will sound like a fart can around town...

I don't know why so many people always talk about the racing medalion when people are asking about the HYPER medalion, the hyper medalion is a muffler with tip setup like the apex'i worldsport exhaust. The hyper medalion is quiet with a little bit of bass to it, definitely not unbearable. I have header, skunk2 testpipe, and hyper medalion and its not loud at all. It does have a bit of rasp to it though because of the testpipe.

I had the Tanabe Hyper Medallion (got stolen). It was pretty quiet and had a nice low tone, but could draw some attention in the upper RPM range. I would buy another one to replace it if I had the money.

Also, the Hyper as pointed out above is the oval shaped can with a 4" tip. The racing one is the N1 style that is super loud.

I'm kinda in the same boat... I'm looking for a quiet setup. I've got a 95 Civic EX 4Door .... I need a whole new Catback system that I'll be hooking up to a Random Technology High flow Cat... Here's what I've narrowed it down to.
1) Apexi World Sport2
Model# APX-116-KH01
$379+shipping
I'm not 100% sure this will fit my car... anyone know? I only saw one place say it would.
2) RS-R ExMag
Model# RSR-12H121
$487+shipping
3) Netami Twin Loop muffler, Flowmaster Hushpower II resonator, and custom 2" exhaust pipe to connect it all
$240 for muffler and resonator and I'm guessing between $150 to $100 for the piping.

So which one is most quiet and easy to install? The last one might be the most quiet, but I would still have to go through all the hastle of finding a place to do the custom pipe.

Thanks!
