CAN I USE SRP D16A6 PISTONS IN A Z6 BLOCK?
i deciding on if i should go built mini me or straight z6. the a6 has higher comp.. aftermaket pistond then the z6.
can i put d16a6 srp pistons in a z6 block? or i should just use the a6 block, w/the z6 head?

Bore size is the same, BUT you have to consider when using pistons in different block and cylinder head combinations may have VALVE clearance issues.
Some cylinder heads have bigger valves than other heads. Also Valve angles are different for each cylinder head. You also have Dome shape matched to the cylinder heads combustion chamber. So its not necessarily wise to switch pistons used for different heads.

i was wondering if the d16a6 pistons will fit in the d16z6 block. because i was going built d16z6, but i think i might go built mini me, because the srp piston for the a6 is 11-5-1 or 11-0-1, and the d16z6 is 10-5-1

the difference between the A6 and a Z6 is the head, specifically the volume of the chamber.
from what i remember the Z6 head's chamber is smaller than the A6 head

you have to use the Piston that matches with the head you are using. the block you are using doesnt matter if its an A6, Z6 or Y8, its pretty much the same deck height and stroke.
What matters is:
1. Combustion chamber size
2. Valve size
3. Valve angle
Thats what determines the design of the piston.

always CC your head, and clay the engine when assembling. nothing hurts more than having the piston hit the valves during the initial start-up.

Just a note, not that I doubt Exospeed in the slightest because Will knows his ****. There are people running the high dome P29 pistons with a .05" mill on the head and a Crower Stage 3 cam without any valve clearance issues...and they still have tunability.
If the SRP pistons give an 11:1 in an A6 that'll be about 12:1 in a Z6, just like P29 pistons. You will undoubtedly want to clay the motor to make absolutely sure of the clearances though.

I personally apologize for that. I dont know how that happened. My personal hours are noon to 8pm CA time, so if you have questions PM, email or leave your number with someone there so I can talk to you guys personally. I'm down to chat SOHC stuff whenever, dont have to buy from us. Just call me up if you have any questions or ideas.
