Auto to Manual transmission question.
I've searched the topic, but this question isent about the swap in general its a question about the transmission. Would a 87 civic SI transmission work for my d15b2 engine? I've decided to just switch to manual transmission instead of spending 700 dollars for somebody to install another auto trans for me.

-When you purchase a clutch, make sure to get one for your transmission.
-when you remove all the auto shifter parts, do not rip the wires, there are plugs for a reason.
good luck.

You need alot of stuff to make it work. Personally have done it.
Here's the down low:
-You need a 88-91 tranny, with (judging by which year tranny you get) 88-89 clutch/flywheel or 90-91.
-Shift linkage, shifter, all accesories, random nuts and bolts, a drill, a welder (jb weld with some sealer if you can't weld/no access to welding)
-Axles (automatic ones do work, but they are shorter I beleive)
-Clutch cable, pedal assembly for a 5spd, throttle cable for 5spd unless you want to switch over the gas pedal from the automatic to the 5spd pedal assembly.
-All the little boots and grommets needed to close up the 5spd shifter, honda parts counter is key.
-5spd tranny mounts (automatic one can be used in the back, but you need to move the bracket over by 1 hole to the passenger side).
-Simply take off your tranny/flexplate, bolt on flywheel and clutch. Put the tranny one, using the new mounts. Throw in the axles. Swap the pedals over. Connect your clutch cable, speed sensor, everything you undid.
-At this point, when the engine is bolted in and sitting flat, you mount the manual shifter. This is REALLY REALLY REALLY important that the engine is in straight and good first, you don't want your shifter to not be straight with the engine right? Right. You connect the shifter to the tranny and simply bring it up the car, it lines up itself at that point (if you have brand new bushings all around in your shifter, it makes it nicer cause it's tighter). Drill the holes to mount it and bolt it on.
At this point, it should start up fine. As for you getting your key out of your ignition, look at the automatic shifter wiring. Cut the 2 big black wires and solder them togeter. Run wires from the reverse lights, thru the firewall, thru the center console, to the wiring, cut the correct yellow and green wire and connect them to the proper ones. At this point, your car think it's in park and the reverse lights will work
.
It's about 10 hours of work to swap it over. But I use the time doing it and did alot of ****. MPFI swap, painted the engine bay flat black. Fixed some rust on the frame. Cleaned up alot of ****. Put in a CRX dash with Si interior, you get the idea. PM or email me if anything goes wrong I love to help people.
