have an really good 87, want to make better.
I own a 1987 honda prelude 2.0 si. I really love this car .Its the oldest car ive owned and seems to be the best damn car ive had.I was wondering if there ways to update the body panels to have a lil more aerodynamics on this model? This car is stock/manuel and I have dusted camaros and mustangs left and right with it but want more top end, how do I do that.I can already put the needle past 140 easily but want to be hitting 160 to 170. thanks for taking the time to read this and any help is welcome.
start with intake, header and exhaust. then to really get the top end you will either need and adjustable cam gear to try to get top end, or adjust the timing to get the power band a little closer to the top. if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the intake for that particular motor, go to a parts store and get a cheap intake (like APC or something like that) for a civic and cut the tube down to shorten it. stick the filter on the end, and you now have an intake for that car. the other thing you should do is upgrade the suspension and get some good tires that are rated for higher speeds if you really want to go 160-170. you may also want to look into upgrading you ignition parts. get some platinum ngk plugs or the copper plugs, if they make them for that motor. get some performance wires like accel or something that is like an 8mm or larger wire. then see if you can get a better ignition coil, or maybe look into an msd ignition. those are some ideas. have fun.
