Default What do the Inducer and Major #'s of a Compressor wheel stand for?

I'm looking for the biggest T04 Compressor wheel/housing there is from Turbonetics for my T3/T4 turbo. I'm trying to see which one is bigger, but I don't know how to read the numbers. Here's the stats for the 2 compressors:

T04B 62-1 -- Inducer: 2.441", Major: 3", inlet: 4"
Super T04E 60 -- Inducer: 2.290, Major: 3.2", inlet: 3"

Thanks for any help

They are talking about the actual Compressor wheel! The compressor wheel is almost in the shape of a cone! The exducer is the overall diameter at the base of the cone. The inducer is the diameter of the part of the come that fits into the compressor housing. This is the part that you see if you look at the compressor housing inlet!

So which is more important when trying to figure out which wheel is bigger when one has a bigger exducer and one has a bigger inducer like the 2 turbo's I mentioned above?

This is where Compressor Maps come into play! Compressor maps show the compressor's flow rate and where it is most efficient! This is where you figure out which turbo best suits your needs.

For instance:

A lot of people like to run a T3/T04B with the following specs:
.63 A/R Turbine housing
Stage III Turbine

60-1 Compressor Housing
60-1 Comrpessor Wheel

Now, this turbo is great for a large displacement low boost application. A lot of people like this compressor, but it is very mismatched for our small displacement high revving motors. It will be good for about 12-14 psi before it becomes very inefficient.

A T3/T04E with the following specs will best suit our needs:
.63 A/R Turbine housing
Stage III Turbine

.50 A/R Compressor
50 Trim Compressor

This turbo can easily produce 350 whp. It is quick spooling and is pretty effiecient. If you are looking for more hp you can always go to a larger T04E compressor. The largets being the .60 A/R Compressor Housing & 60 Trim compressor wheel. This is capable of flowing enough air for 500-525 whp when mated to a .82 A/R Turbine housing!
