how bad is this over revving??

Default how bad is this over revving??

well i was teaching my cousin to drive stick...and i told him to hurry up and pass up this one car cause there was cones telling us to merge in the right lane...soo when the green light hit...he got off and floored it and he forgot to switch to 2nd and he revved it passed 8000 rpm and the limiter cut us off but he was still on the gas soo the needle was juss jumping up then down several times...is this bad when you do thiss?? ...oh and i have a 97 ex coupe if you wanted to kno

Are you on some sort of chipped ecu? My p2p ecu has a limiter around 7200rpm so unless it was from a roll and he downshifted into first then I don't know how he could have gotten to 8k.

no big deal, i do it all the time. just dont down shift pass the limiter thats when you bend some valves

if your rev limiter is 8000, you shouldn't be in bad shape. Don't worry about it.
there's worse that's happen and they're still working good.

sorry it wasnt 8000...i was juss guessing where the red line ends...but it was to the end of the red line soo i guess 7200 then...anymore peoples thoughts about this?? thanks

a rev limiter was invented, for teaching your cousin how to drive stick. If it wasn't there, there would be a problem.

Don't make it a common occurance and it shouldnt be a problem, but you really can only smach rev limiter so many times before your luck runs out.

haha this brings me back to the other day when i was speeding...

yes speeding on public roads w/e

but i downshifted to 4th while to high in 5th gear.....and it just pegg'd 8k in my crappy LS motor...i thought it was limited...but i guess the gear overrides the limiter haha


funny really but oh welll

still runnin like a champ
