Earl Scheib before/after
I heard that Earl Scheib sucks, not on the paint, but on the prep. So I got the car prepped in Tijuana at Junior's Shop. $140 to get the body perfect and to sand the whole car. Then I took the car home, stripped it down, and sanded all the little cracks and crevices. I loaded all the parts into the car and dropped it off at Earl Scheib in El Cajon. $365 for a 6 year warranty. There aren't many colors to choose from, but I'm not that picky about appearance. I had some stipulations. The guy wrote them right on the receipt, so I'm feeling pretty confident about them. I said, don't spray the muffler or radiator, leave the grill black, but paint the spoiler and side mirrors. I told him that if he masks the car real good, I'll tip him.
Here are the before pics.
Looks pretty mean when you can see the header next to the radiator. I wish I had cleaner hood locks or a working hood latch...
The brake lights are held on by one nut until I get to the paint shop (shown hanging). The EF will be next, depending on how this turns out.
Removed fenders, bumpers, side mirrors, but not the door handles.
Removed the roof trim, spoiler, and third brake light. All the parts fit inside easily once the passenger seats were removed.

Earl scheib paint is good for getting it done quick if your not worried about the greatest quality. They turn out decent work for the $300 or so you pay for the paintjob.

born and raised there... my father was big into v8's he had connections down in Tijuana and for $1500 at the time you got a show car paint job...just gotta find the right places

There's a lot of negative sentiment towards Mexicans in the news. All I can say is that if you go to TJ, you find people that are not shy about hard work. If they want to come here, they're welcome to come here and pay taxes as far as I'm concerned. Trade them for some of these lazy overweight baby producing tweaker asses and wanna be gangsters. Actually, don't even send American trash to Mexico. Send them to Afganistan. Don't let those rich uptight politicians scare you with their racism. Brown skin is your friend, cabron.
