Default Right Hand Conversion........

I wanted to see if someone could give me some input on converting a LHD CRX to a RHD. I am wondering if it is hard and what would it take to do this. I have an opportunity to pick up a front clip and was wondering if it was possible to do it myself and what would it take as far as tools and stuff. If anybody could give me some info it would help. Thanks

Have you searched yet? There was a guy on here who was doing it then the shop got shut down on him. I guess the owner got locked up and the project was over. It would help you though.

I havent priced the complete conversion with labor but I could get all the parts for between
400 to 500 dollars. I crx is just sitting at my house and I need another project so I was thinking about this.

400-500, thats not too bad.

You are gonna need a new front clip. So unless you know how to weld or have good friends that are welders, this is gonna get expensive.

I believe that is part of it.

all the info is on this forum..use the search.

1. get clip.
2. cut LDH clip (the good one) off at firewall.
3. weld RHD (the lame one) on at firewall.
4. move to a country where people drive on the left.

You guys = Jokes

This has been covered in extreme detail before.

I know you guys are noobs, but do you not know of the search feature????

Let me start out by crushing your idea of a $400-$500 price range for parts.
In your dreams.
You need:
RHD Firewall
RHD Steering rack
RHD Dash and Center Console
You have to reroute the clutch cable and throtle cable
you have to run custom brake and fuel lines.

There's no way in hell you could ever find a Front Clip for a low enough price that after shipping/hauling would cost that little. Then the costs of fabricating the lines and all the hours of work plus additional small parts you'll need, it is definitely not cheap.

It is a ****** ton of work, and has only been completed once (I believe) by a member named WuTang.
The other guy doing the extensive How To on it is EF8Kid.
His build thread on here is OK but the one he did in the EF forum on JDMU is much better, less BS comments.

Sorry if I answered rudely, but you asked for it by not searchin, and at least I gave ya the info you wanted

do not listen to this idiot.

you need to DRILL out all the spot welds of the firewall on both the car and the clip, then swap them out and re-weld every spot weld on it then swap **** over

only its not that easy

Hey fuckboy.. I was being sarcastic. Obviously there's a lot more involved in doing a swap than a simple cut & paste.

IMO: RHD is for countries that drive on the LH side of the road. Leave that **** where it belongs.

well i have seen and heard of it beening done two different ways
1. you can strip out both cars and cut out and swap the firewall and then swap the rest of the parts over.
2. if you buy a RHD front clip you can measure out everything and cut your LHD front clip off at the same demensions and weld everything back together then run the brake lines and wiring to the rear of the car.
your choice on which way to do it

i would do it if i had the money to waste. it would be cool (not in the jdm lover way, but to have something different, how about austrailian Domestic market or UKDM). but your best bet would to buy a complete front clip (from dash forward) and then cut firewall and then do all the conversion stuff. once i finish school i will be buying two aircooled bugs, early 1960s hardtop and convertible. i have found some RHD drive versions of the hard top, i hope i can find both in RHD. i think its cool, as long as you are doing it to be on the JDM bandwagon. even though i really like the jdm crx front end and the fact that more air flows to the radiator.

my gf can testify for my length and girth (probably licking her lips while thinking about it) there are blind spots with the RHD car that you have to get used to and learning the position of your car since your now driving on the opposite side of the car.

Fixed it for ya.

Keep that **** outta the forums, no one cares, take a joke.

Now, RHD is simply not worth it. The price of bringing a RHD CRX now is about as much as fully doing the conversion, and takes less time too! Once a full clip come in, you tear one down, start cutting/grinding/drilling/welding and what not, after you spend all sorts of money fabbing stuff and all that crap, you up quite a bill. And then the car is never 100% true again. I don't care who you are, Honda has welded that thing is way better then you. It will simply ruin a CRX.

Buying a JDM CRX SIR costs about 12000$ delivered to your house. Then you have a factory harness with a B16A, RHD, back seats, glass rood and every other 'Gay Dee Em' goodies you would like, and you have a daily when driving RHD gets old.

PM CRXFORUM, he has one.

Actually you can get a decent one to your door for about $8-9k depending where you live.
That's why I laugh when the fake "legal" ones sell for all that cash, the dumb bastards could be picking their own for less money.

And yeah, if you were gonna go through with the RHD I'd just import one bnut you'll still have to do the swap if you want your car legal, cause yuo cant legally register the siR in the US
