Is Navi really worth the extra $1500
Just wondering if Navi is really worth getting because there is an habi red pearl with navi coming to a dealer near me in about a month. For those of you who have the navi please help me out.
nah i dont think it would be. i just got the ex w/o navi and plan on getting a pioneer AVIC-N2 for about a grand. plays DVDs/mp3s/cd/vcd and has navi. better option in my opinion. i dont think OEM navi plays DVDs

Depends on your usage. Do you often travel into areas you don't know? If you do, have often is it

Dont buy it from honda...there are no preouts on the stock head unit. Also, you can buy an aftermarket navi for $1000 that has all the goodies to make a nice stereo with and your also saving $500. Thats the only reason I didnt get it.

You can make it honda factory fit. Just go to honda and get the dash piece they use for their stock navigation, put that in....then buy a navigation unit that is the same size / style as the oem one. I believe pioneer makes one just like it. Then you save $500-$700 and have honda factory fit, a much more useful unit, and navigation.
If you want the clean and good looking navi. 1.5K is worth it. If you want more for your money then get an aftermarket one and make it fit =D. I saw a navi sellin on ebay about 3 days ago(full kit OEM HONDA) for 400 bux plus 20 shipping. IDK if its still there but it looked pretty good from the pics
Seems like too much work, just pay the 1500 for it. Remember cars with OEM Navi have a higher resale the same without, generally 1k higher. Now you go buy some aftermarket navi, it won't increase resale more than by 200-300 if that.

And pioneer makes an aftermarket double din tv/dvd/navi that fits and looks similar to oem. I think the model # is avic-d#. Or some ****.</TD></TR></TABLE>
That is true but its not hard to convert it to play dvd's (ppl have done it with every other oem navi). Also, playing dvd's isn't good for the driver anyway. Its personal choice though.

In my opinion its a ---Yup, its worth it... love my navi... its one of those things that you don't realize how handy it is until you actually have it. Just my .02 cents

Its something you won't understand until you own a car with navi. Once you get it, you will want it every following car. You may only use it a few times a yr but when you need it, it comes in handy

Get a portable navigation system. They have all the same features, plus some extra. Also you can use it in another car, if you have one, or if you decide to sell your Civic. A good one will run you about $500-600.
i passed on the navi and plan on getting a pioneer AVIC N2 maybe N3

like i said earlier though. if you want an OEM look, pioneer (as well as other companies) have double din monitors like the AVIC D1 and the new D2

i agree with everyone that NAVI is deffinately an accessory worth purchasing. but is it worth $1500 for the OEM or you can pay less and get one with more features.

yes! it is definitely worth it! i see soo many cars go out of the dealer lot, only to see the customers come back and request for the navi to be installed.
i myself have owned a numerous amount of cars and never got the factory navi installed, thinking that i was going to install an aftermarket unit. this involved: time without your car (its ok if you havea secondary car, but like most i dont), you have to find a reliable installer (cover things like good install and product warranty), and of course you have to shop around for the best price.
cut all that out and just get the navi that is preaccessorized on the car.

I say its definately worth it. Another plus most have not mentioned is the PC Card slot.
You can use a PCMCIA flash card adapter (aka laptop card) and buy a compact flash card or secure digital card and fill it with MP3's or WMA files. I bought a 2GB CF card and the card reader, total $60.
You can control it via the NAVI face; way better than using an IPOD. Nice!!!

it all depends...
price is only an issue in an absence of value.
if you never used it before and you feel that $1.5k is too much, then don't get it. but for someone like me, who have been using navi for about 3 years...i love it and i must have it.

just to let u know, if u finance ur car u will not be spending $1500 on it. u will end up spending closer to $2800 if u finance for 5-6 years with a reasonable rate. that is why i didnt get the navi or the lip kit or fog lights. they'll tack it onto ur sales price, but that is still factored into financing so u pay interest on that part just like any other. so if u have the money, go get an aftermarket and keep all ur factory stuff somewhere safe until u are ready to sell the car or stereo. just my thoughts
