Default Element keeps blowing fuse

I'm helping my buddy put in a new head unit. everythings working on it but he keeps blowing a fuse under the hood. Its the "small light" one. His dash lights and tail lights dont work. What could be the reason for this. Could i have wired the "dimmer" wire wrong. There was no dimmer wire from the new head unit so i wired it to the "illumination". Is that wrong?

Try disconnecting the Illumination wire and see if that works. I never hook up the illumination wire to aftermarket headunits, it never worked for me. I havent seen anyone else who had their headunit function with their dimmer. It would be cool though.
