shift until you can't shift no more, and rev it until it blows.

HP/Torque: 200hp@6800/161lb-ft@5500
Redline: 7200 rpm

So the optimum shift point would be at 6800rpms

No no no no. I bet the H22 makes more power at 7200 then it does wherever the shift will fall to, whatever that rpm will be. Shift at 7200. In fact, I would probably take it to 7300-7400.

why would you shift before redline???
That will just put you at lower RPM's (less power) in the next gear.

SHIFT AT REDLINE

umm...shifting at redline doesn't mean more horsepower, nor does it mean that is where the engine makes it's peak horsepower. if your redlining your just over revving, which of coarse we all know causes engine damage. YOU HAVE MUCH TO LEARN YOUNGLING.

SO DO NOT SHIFT AT REDLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

The horsepower peaks at 6800 so anything above that and you will be loosing power. This is why I said shift when(or just after) the hp peaks.

You cant tell the that in the 400 rpm after peak power, the power tapers off so much that you are making more horsepower at the rpm you are at after you shift?

Even if you were to shift at 7.5k you are still making more power then where the shift will fall.

exactly, that doesn't mean you have to hit readline everytime though. of coarse your going to make power everytime you shift, put it's unnecassary to take it to redline. example, my b16 redlines at 8500rpm's. the furhtest i've taken it is to 8000, and even when shift alitte over 7500, there is no change in power, atleast not a significant change where i can feel.

Oh but these are modified engines. Who knows what the OP has as far as mods. sure the last one makes power all the way up to 7.5k but the close to stock dyno has a fairly large fall off after it peaks. No rpms listed... just mph.

Ok, lets say there are 2 b16a2's, minus all the other conditions (driver, weight of car, blah blah blah) One shifts at 7600 (peak power) and one shifts at 8200(just a little into redline), you are saying that the one that shifts at 8200 is not gonna win? Are you kidding me?

true that. Shifting at redline will give you more power after you shift because you will be closer to your peak power. And also, i dont think power drops off so much that you should shift at your peak.

and to the OP, search damn it. You said you were to lazy to look through all the results, and what did you do, you added one more topic for someone to have to search through. People like you are the reason there are so many repeats of the same topic.

same goes for you. until you get the title "16 year old e-thug" out from underneath your name, i will always laugh when i see it, i will not trust what you say, and i will always remember why it is there.
