What chips are available and prices
I have a 94 integra ls I havn't done much due to lack of money. All i have now is a short ram intake. I have decided what i want to do next is put a mod chip in. Im hoping that i would be able to get mabe 50 hp out of one. I dont know what ones are out there. id like to know the prices and what i could get out of a chip any suggestions.. thanks
There are chips that can set your rev-limitter to a different RPM, as well as adjust your fuel/air maps. Nothing as drastic as 50hp will ever be attained though.
Going fast cost money anyway you look at it. Some say NOS but what if you toast your piston rings, that cost money too.
Remember you get what you pay for in most cases.

go for the basic bolt-ons first. depending on where you live (lots of rain and snow) you can get a DC Ceramic 4-2-1 header for under 300bux. if you live in a worse climate get a Stainless Steel for around 400. You can get an exhaust also. If youre lookin for cheap performance get an Apexi WS for around 400 also. http://www.optauto. i get all my stuff from them. they have a great selection and good prices. a chipped ECU will cost more than bolt ons and wont give you much noticeble gains on a pretty stock car.

I have a 95 LS stick that is stock and everything I've read here suggests very little if no increase in performance with i/h/e. I have raced another LS that had those 3 and beat him so I wouldn't waste my money on that.
Getting a chip will result in you having to send your cpu out for 3 - 4 weeks.. i hope you have another means of transportation durring this time.. and 50 hp.. you will never get that from any chip for a honda/acura... they arnt super high horse power cars for a reason.. :D
Unless you have a factory turbo car, a "one size fits all" chip will give you at the most, 2hp. Hell..... it might even be detrimental to your car's performance.
I think most of the HP gains claimed by "chips" are related to the increased redline they give.
For example you have some Nice Jun 3's, and you max out at say 180 HP at your redline of 8200.
Add the chip, with a 9200 Redline and all of a sudden your car makes 200 HP at 9200 RPM's.
Hey the only difference was the chip and now you have 20+ HP!!!
So technically they can give you 20+ HP. But in actuality they are just letting your car realize the full potential of its other mods that make power past your stock redline.

PS- What kinda of money are you looking to spend? A cold air intake would be a great first step. Many people start here. I prefer AEM. Some prefere Iceman. Injen seems to be growing in popularity as well. When it comes down to it, they all result in practically identical gains on a stock engine (between the AEM and Iceman, I don't know much about Injen yet). Might as well just choose the one which you feel looks best. It's opinion more than anything else when it comes to the CAI debates.
then what do you think i should do next as far a proformance goes??? and im not rich eather so cant afford to spend too much
obd1 cars do benefit from chips, but most of the gain is from the advance built into them. Dinan used to have some chips for acuras back in the obd1 days. I don't know if they still sell that stuff or not. in any case, you can advance your car for free and pick up some power. try this link...

advance to 18d btdc.
a cold air intake, like someone mentioned, will help. it doesn't need to be a $200 job. just get rid of the resonator in the fender and be sure you're pulling cool air in from the fender area. a free flow K&N filter in the stock box will also help.
make sure your throttle slack is adjusted properly, change to synthetic engine and tranasmission fluids, make sure your car is aligned properly, air in tires are set to the correct pressures, change your spark plugs, wires, rotor and dist cap...
lots of small things like these will all add just a bit of power to your car. when you're done, it will be running at it's peak ability. then you can start looking for add ons that will give you even more power... but sort your car out first and you'll be a happier camper.
