hey guys just have a quick question, every night i come home after driving my 2000 ex with a b16 swap, and notice the bottom of the car, oil pan, axles are wet with oil, its not a huge loss of oil 1/2 quart every 3000, but everything is wet, and gets on the header and smells. My questions is the oil pan gasket looks like its seeping to me, but my freind said its most likey not the oil pan gasket, that its the oil pump seal leaking down the back of the motor. I pulled off the cam gear cover and stuff and looked down there, did not really see any oil in that side of the motor, I try to get under the car when its running to see where its leaking and cant pin point it.. Do you guys think i should just replace the pan gasket first becasue its cheaper and try that and if it still leaks check the oil pump seal? thanks for the input.. This is a bad pic but camera batt is dead, you can kinda see the oil wetness next too the trany inspection cover.

 

Heres my advise. Go get yourself a can of brake cleaner. Raise and suport the vehicle.
Get underneath and spray down all the oil and residue where you think it might coming from. Once you've got it pretty cleared up, start and run the engine. Giving it a couple revs and letting it idle. Then take a look at the areas and looking for oil seeping through.

IMO, it sounds (and from looking at your picture) like it's your oil pan gasket. check your pan bolts first. i had the same leak, thought it was my gasket as well, until a nut fell off while doing an oil change. come to find out i had about 8 nuts that where loose. oh, by the way it'll be alot easier to change yout pan gasket than your pump gasket.

 

going to change the oil pan gasket this weekend,will let you guys going, just going to start with the cheapest part first.
