B18a in 90 Civic SI hatch wiring problem/question....
I just picked up a 90 civic si with a b18a obo0 engine from a 90 integra last week. It drove great until it started sputtering and finally died when I stopped at a light. I called the previous owner and he said that a red wire located near the fuses/hood latch comes loose and needs soldered (fuel pump wire is what he told me). He then said to wiggle it and it will run. I did as he said and it started right up and ran great until it came loose again. I got pissed and wiggled it too hard and it came off. It turns over, but won't fire now. I ripped off the dash to see where it was connected to. This is what I found:
I'm almost positive the red wire was connected to the wire on the right....

Oh, and the exposed wire on the right accidentaly touched a metal piece and created a spark so I'm wondering if that fried the wire or a fuse of some kind? What fuse would it be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Well I would get rid of that red wire altogether. Solder the 2 frayed ends of the yellow/black wire back together....in the 1st pic by the main relay.
And of course tape it up where the wire was spliced in back by the seat or whatever.

Why would I splice it in the back by the seat? I should just be able to unclip that blue piece connecting the yellow/black wire to the red wire and be fine?
Thanks for your help btw...
Anyone else have suggestions?

n/m I understand what you're saying. I should just put electrical tape over the spot where he spliced it....gottcha
I'm gonna go drink a few beers and see if I can connect those two frayed wires (although I don't believe they were connected in the first place) and see if it will start. I'll let you know in about an hour...

Here's the deal. I just hooked the two exposed wires together and I got nothing, then I hooked up the red wire to both exposed ends and also got nothing. Next I hooked up the red wire to the left exposed wire and still got nothing. I tried every combination I could think of and still it wouldn't fire.
Someone please enlighten me. I really need this to run and I know its only a basic wiring problem. Could the wires be fried since I accidentally touched the exposed wire on the right to metal? (I believe this wire was connected to the red one). It doesn't spark anymore so maybe there is no power going to it? I seriously need help and suggestions asap. Thanks....

Ok, so I checked the fuses under the hood and the 5 "regular" looking fuses are ok, but I found that one of the 50A fuses (closest to the passenger fender) looked blackened at the ends. Does this mean its bad? I thought if the arch was broken it was bad? The ends on the other 50A fuse aren't blackend. Its hard to get a good pic of it but here a few...

Progress is being made...maybe. I bought 20ft 14 guage wire at wal-mart and connected it to the + end of the batter and connected it to the red fuel pump wire. I can hear the pump prime (whirling sound) but it still won't fire. Any suggestions are welcomed. It ran perfectly fine until that red wire came unattached...
Then your pump is fine , you may have fried your main relay (the box the red wire was ran to) they tend to be touchy if the wiring is hacked up like that. I say put in a new relay , get rid of the red wire all together and resolder the orig. wire back together and call it a day.
