Default oil filter question

i know the oil filter is supposed to have a rubber round ring on it.. is there supposed to be a black rubber ring on the block as well? cause i didn't notice this before. but i was changing my oil yesterday and i took off the old filter and put on the new one. then oil started leaking everywhere. so when i took off my oil filter today after draining my oil, two rubber rings fell out.

There should be only one rubber ring, which is on the oil filter.

i have an h23 and mine did the same thing. the H23/F22 has an oil cooler and the filter attatches to it, the oil cooler then sandwiches an o-ring against the block a good picture of this is at this link: (item #33)http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...P-OIL+STRAINER The threaded shaft that the filter rest on is actually what secures the oil cooler to the block. no need to disconnect coolant lines however becareful of the oil press. sensor below it and the o2 sensor wiring near it, you'll need a 29mm wrech or deep socket, I Reccomend Removing the oil press sensor and bracket before beggining work as it is costly to replace the o-ring is only a few bucks and here's where i got mine: hondadiscountparts.com
Good luck

You need to be careful to scrape off the old filter's o-ring if it's bonded to the block. That causes leaks.

ha ha, now that is funny stuff. gotta pay more attention next time you are changin that oil. always clean the mating surface on the block because yes,all kinds of crap including the old fliter gasket can get stuck on there.

I made that mistake with my dad's Cherokee and the oil pressure dropped and oil started spraying everywhere.
