Default hondata....again.

so would there be any advantage to puttting hondata(s300) on my nearly stock 01 lude? im planning on doing serious N/A mods very soon and wondered if it will help or hurt between now and then. mods as of now are an AEM short ram ghetto riged into a cold air intake.

You can't really go wrong with having Hondata...s300 may be overkill for your stock lude, but you said you will do some serious NA mods later so I would get the s300. (might hurt your wallet now, but it will help your car later )

i know the s300 is pricey and fairly advanced, but its the most user friendly as far as i can tell, and i plan on doing my own tuning with a wideband. so it cant hurt right?

that would be a good idea, especially if you plan on installing your mods with time between each mod. that way you could tune your engine after each, and pull as much power possible from each in the mean time.

Great choice to go with... even with a stock car. You'll open up your power a little more and possibly increase your fuel economy.

Drop me a PM if you have any other questions... I'm a hondata dealer

Personally I'd go Neptune instead of Hondata, especially with Neptune's Bluetooth capabilty, but when properly tuned, either system can only help.

You get the hondata socketed ecu and you are ready to go. If you are obd2 (96+) then you will need an obd2-obd1 conversion harness. If you were to go neptune you would have to have this conversion harness as well.

When you unplug your current ecu you will be left with the harness. Just unplug the harness. The new harness should look almost the same as the old one. The new harness (ObdI) plugs into the same place as the old one. Very easy to do. There are some people on this site that sell the ObdI harness. I got mine from kingmotorsports.com. I went with Boomslang.

yes, you
1)buy a used P28 (civic) or P72 (pre-1996 Integra GSR) ECU
2)have a Hondata tuner install S300 on that P28 or P72
3)Install the Hondat-modified unit into your Prelude using an adapter harness
4)Get the car tuned on a dyno
5)When its time for an emissions test, you have to put your original computer back in.

no offense, but did you even look at the Hondata website (Hondata.com) before deciding that you are getting S300 for sure? I'm asking because you seem to lack a basic understanding of how these engine management systems work. Have you compared it to other systems to make sure that you specifically need or want S300 (its a great sytem but its not the best for every setup ) You could have answered all these questions yourself in 5 minutes on the site rather than waiting 2 days for all the answers in this thread.

I hope that didn't come out as me being a jerk cause I'm not trying to at all. It's just that these forums don't work unless everyone puts in a little legwork themselves Hopefully this answers your questions though

as long as you got all the info you need to make a good decision. Honestly I'd rather see something explained 2 or 3 times in one thread than see 6 threads down the road to the tune of "just installed Hondata - car feels slow/car doesn't run right/etc./etc."

good luck with your setup
