Go ahead & enjoy. The videos are short, medium, and long, but are the same session (Day 1 Session 1 with my student riding along). MOST people will just watch the short one with Doug and I lead/follow & a couple more laps to watch me screw up turn 2...

The last lap is the full 1st session of Day 1.

Right click & save as please

Session 1 Day 1 (Ryan Curry passenger) [40MB]

Session 1 Day 1 (includes cool down lap) [49MB]

Session 1 Day 1 (Full Session) [129MB]

Session 2 Day 2 (w/passenger Dave Barrett - FULL SESSION) [196MB] ---This even includes my window net bar coming loose & lodging under my foot (fixed between T2-T3) That's what I get for not running ALL of my gear at the expo!

Good job ignoring the blend line.

Yea - it's time for some repainting

It was painstaking, but I followed it all the way around the corner for day 2.

I really dont like that blend line... and it is worn out badly.

Would be cool if we merged with the track from the outside on the straight between 2-3 and were seperate from the track up until then... somehow. I'm sure that just complicates things and would require a barrier between the entry lane and the track itself. Regardless, it was a good idea when I had it all planned out in my head. But at least then - no blend line!

I missed the blend line too (sorry Jay).

Downloaded the full session, cut out around 57%. Haven't watched it yet.

Last time I was at GR was 4 years ago with a very stock car on stock wheels, stock suspension & azeniss. Turn 2 is very different with the car now. It took a session or two before I found what worked for me. The video was the first time out on Day 1. Don't worry, I screwed it up a few more times before it was done

T2 is a tricky turn.
You need to drag on the brakes a little bit longer until the car starts to turn in. Because it's an uphill, you would plow straight if you don't put enough weight on the front wheels, like what Jeff demostrated in the vid.

Nice video! Sorry I held you up in there!! What an embarrassment, lol I'm caught on tape!

I really love that track though. I only wish I had made it out to EXPO 2!!

Jeff,

Thanks for sharring that footage It's great to see how my car was behaving while you were chassing me. Now if I could only make out what you and your student were saying about my driving . I enjoyed looking for my car in your rear view mirror on the laps leading up to "I'm going to let this guy pass".

I noticed that you took a very different line through 2 then me (I know you were working on your line through the sessions), I wonder how my line looked from your point of view. It seems I may have been slower through that section but its hard to tell sometimes. Any other comments?

I tried digging up footage from my first session on day one (with you in front for a few laps) but somehow that didn't get recorded.

Doug

Doug - I found that even on my year old RA1's T2 was easier to hang a bit on the outside. Previously, I would brake hard to rotate the car & go to second gear to get out of it...I was able to hold 3 gear easily & brake just a little later than I did in the first session (light brake tap) and rotate the car sufficiently to be full throttle 1/2 way through.

Check out the extra vid I just added at the beginning of this thread for day 2.
