Default New CRX owner. have some Q's.

Hey, I was given a 1991 CRX with No motor and the original trans in the backseat. I dont know much about Hondas, and less about CRX's and this car is going to be my project car. Ive been looking around to see what kind of engines are in CRXs and the most common is the B16A that Ive found. Im looking for an enigne that is able to be modded to get some very serious hp from but is possible for a noobe like myself to install, any ideas? I would like to stick with the original trans too. And unfortionatly Im not quite sure what engine was orginally in the car. thanks in advance.

dude, your gonna get killed here asking questions like these if you dont search, just a little advice.

red button upper right.

But, yeah, the B16 in a crx has a ton of potential, the aftermarket for that is almost unending.

all the crx's in the US came with single over head cam engines. although the B16 is a fairly simple swap. theres a ton of info on B16 swaps in the search.

Search the forums here for whatever questions you have. There's so much good stuff floating around here if you know what to look for.

If you want to know what kind of CRX you have and what engine originally came in it, check out the VIN located handily on your dash or in your engine bay. Figure out what you have using this handy post: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1521231

Also I suggest reading over the pinned Civic & CRX FAQ in this forum: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1508680

Wikipedia also had some good info for me when I was first starting out and trying to figure out basic stuff like what models were what and different honda engines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CR-X

for a first timer id suggest a SOHC ZC engine from japan. its a simple bolt in, using your stock trans etc.

but determine if u have a Si, HF or DX.

Si says Si in the rear triangle window and has an electric sunroof

DX has no badge in the rear

HF has a badge in the rear window.

probably the easiest way to tell w/o having the motor.

if the car is a HF/DX i'd get a different transmission then the stock one.
