How should i pursue this? (Falty mechanic work)
recently i had my automatic 92 accord's rotors, pads and cv joints replaced by trax tires. we drove the car approx. 70 miles until one day the car simply came to a roll then to a halt. a couple months have passed now and i just recently got a chance to check it out. i found that the driver side cv axle was slightly popped out of the tranny. as well, i found what looks to be quite a bit of cv grease spread all over on the passenger side. not only this, but i checked to see if the tranny fluid was low and 0 registered on the dip stick. could this have also damaged the transmission from running to low on gear oil? should trax tires be held fully responsible? i have never been in this situation and just wanted a little insight before i called them tomorrow. is there any certain way i should approach this? thanks to anyone who can give some insight.
IMO, you waited to long and anything could of happened during that period. Also from your reasoning, how would being low/no on transmission fluid be their fault and if they did do something, would you not see oil/fluid spots on your driveway? But anyways good luck when what ever you are trying to do.
i understand where you are coming from for as far as waiting too long, however the car was driven around 70 miles, which we could use to prove that because on their receit they state the mileage when they received the car then we can go compare it to what our odometer says. we wouldn't have waited so long, but i didn't have time nor really the extra money to get it towed back up there, so i opted to wait until i had the time to get a good look at it.
being low/no transmission fluid is there fault simply because when the axle popped out the tranny, fluid was able to come out as well. since the car didn't roll too far, however, i don't believe it would have caused the transmission any harm, but you never know i guess. thanks for you help though

i didn't want to bother with telling the shop that the car had broke down until i was sure of the problem, that way they didn't say something else went wrong and burn my girlfriends *** again. i will definately be calling them tomorrow however, and fully explaining the problem and how i feel. thanks
