Just need to wait out the hype. Its the same for the SI. Once the hype is over, we can get them well under MSRP. Patience is key!

Example of last SI (EP3):

When it first came out, sticker for 19.x k, it was initially selling over MSRP. If you waited a year, you could negotiate down to 17k or lower.

Can you post where you are getting it from?

I'm still looking for a silverstone/sport/manuel. I would't mind buying @ the same time, maybe we can get a bigger discount (or some parts)

i got a quote from a local dealer. For a sport 5MT, they wanted like $16,700. But they don't charge the customer the destination charge supposedly. So even if they did charge destination, it would still be $1000 overpriced.

All the other local dealers are selling for MSRP.

Dealerships around me are trying to sell it for over MSRP but they negotiate down to MSRP but no lower. I have been trying to get one for my brother (first car), just been a pain since I refuse to pay MSRP for a Honda

There is not much profit in the car to begin with so even if one day the "hype" is gone your not going to get much of a discount anyway

Its an entry level car that Honda is trying to price as low as possible to begin with so if your expecting 1000 discount from MSRP youd be waiting a LONG time to get one

I have sold a few fits already at MSRP which is a no haggle price --- sales people make what is called a mini on these things because there is nothing there.

In cali the market will always have more demand than cars --- we sell out of Civics every year while the chevy dealers still have left over cars from 05 on their lots.....the fit is an inexpensive car that most dealerships only get about 6-8 a month vs how many people want them

I think its a great car and will remain in demand for a long while --- its only 16,700 for the sport and its fun to drive while being a Honda

If anybody is serious about a Fit in SoCal feel free to PM me for contact info --- I dont charge markup for HT guys and I keep my word

bro diff. between msrp and invoice is 600, its not like the dealership is staying in buisness by selling at MSRP. Is 200 dollars off really worth the wait? or would you rather get on the road and drive one?

A lot of people have the misconception that Japanese cars have huge markups like the domestic cars, but in fact there's only a couple hundred dollars of profit on a car such as the Fit being an entry level vehicle selling at MSRP. So do not expect a big sale in a year or so. Instead of wasting so much time and gas driving around looking for lower than MSRP price, pay MSRP + destination charges = enjoy the car today! If you happen to find a dealership who is willing to sell you a car for under MSRP, make sure you go through the the math carefully, especially if you trade in your old vehicle or purchasing through financing. I've worked at dealership before where there are tricks to sell it to you at a lower price, but it will end up being more.

Just for the record, had I not been a little upside down on my trade-in, I would have had my Fit for $13,100. It's just the base, but that is $1300 off of MSRP with destination charge.

I ended up paying $14,000 for it in the end with my trade. still below MSRP. Either way, I would have paid the $14,400 if I had to. But I like to work the sales person as much as possible.

So you got a $1300 discount off MSRP on a Fit? Where do you live?

I have sold 2 fits at $1000 over sticker already and we have people on waiting lists (my HT guys pay msrp though) The simple fact is the car is inexpensive already -- MSRP is more than fair and thats the price HONDA puts on them --- if you all belieive in HONDA products than why not believe in HONDA's price?

This mindset to wait to save yourself $11 a month to get a Fit at invoice is silly --- the longer you wait the more the price will go up --- the Fit's arriving will always cost more than the Fit's from just a few months ago and you still wont be driving one because $11 a mo is just too much money to pay for a car you really want.

Anyway --- I still havent seen a black Fit in person and they look great in the pics online --- anybody want a black Fit so I can order one and see it in person lol

I am located in western Pennsylvania.

I saw a black fit on the lot where I got mine. I like it and I don't. It is nighthawk black pearl, but it doesn't look the same as it did on the Integra Type-R's. Still a beautiful color, none the less.

Anyways, $1300 off MSRP is correct. And I agree people should not wait. I read where 9,900 of these have been sold in the US this year since their debut in April. Honda is not going to up the amount they sell here.

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT. Quotes are bullshit. MSRP + tax + license is bullshit. If you want to provide valuable information tell us the actual OUT-THE-DOOR price you paid - not quoted or promised or whatever.

Do you really believe it's as simple as MSRP + tax + license? What then is your actual cost if you believe that? You see, "MSRP+tax+license" is NOT a number. It doesn't tell you your cost.

Lets be clear: "MSRP+tax+license" is NOT a number. Asking for that leaves your final price open to interpretation.

First of all, once you sit down with your friendly salesperson thinking you're about to sign a great deal on a car you find that they forgot to tell you they've already put in mats and wheel locks on the car and that it will cost you an additional 500. Then, there's the matter of document prep fees, vehicle prep fees, license transfer fee, etc... which will add up to an additional 500.

Here's how to buy a Fit in todays market:

1. Go to your dmv web site and find out what your license fee is. Amazing but true: The license fee quoted by the dealer is higher than the license fee quoted by your dmv.

2. Assuming you believe MSRP to be the fair market value for your Fit: Find the MSRP of your model. Add sales tax to that. Add the destination charge. Add the license fee. Sum that up and you'll get an OUT THE DOOR (OTD) price.

3. Call a dealer and tell them the color of the Fit you want and the OTD price you're willing to pay. Don't tell em if you're going to finance it or pay cash. It's not their business where you get your money - even if it's with their finance company. If wish, tell em you're paying cash. If they don't agree to your terms hang up and call someone else. Keep calling. Perhaps you can be flexible if they want 50 or 100 more than your OTD price - don't nickel&dime too much. Someone within a 100 radius will agree to your terms. You can have your car serviced at any dealer so don't think you have to keep going to the dealer you bought the car from.

I hung up on 5 dealerships in my area until I found one 50 miles away who agreed to my price. When I got the breakdown sheet I found I actually got the Fit for under MSRP because they had to start with my OTD price and pay all there overhead departments (document prep, etc..).

Eh not really dropping knowledge.

I called this dealer, and they were cool about helping out, and confirmed about what the poster said.

I dont know why we are arguing about this. Im sure he knows what the DMV fees and taxes, and what mrsp is.

Try it for yourself. geez.

I know what the difference is. I looked at it before the FIT even hit dealerships. I have bought 5 new honda's in the past 3 yrs and have yet to pay over MSRP out the door except on 2 but they were loaded with options. Its nice to develop a friendship with the sales manager. The reason why I did not want to buy the fit just yet was due to dealerships asking 1-2k over MSRP. I have no problem paying exactly MSRP + tax/title/tag, but I refuse to pay a penny more. I can get one at MSRP now without haggling, each local dealership has 2-3 sitting on their lot. They are in demand but not all areas.
